Premium Orchard Ladders Trusted for Generations

Yes! On turf and ground the 3 points of contact creates a triangular footprint and stable center of gravity. Their tapered shape allows for better positioning closer to your work (trees, hedges, roof lines) which means you won’t need to lean or overreach to complete the task at hand.

Yes! Orchard ladders are considered a “Special Purpose” ladder. Tallman orchard ladders meet all OSHA requirements and ANSI standards where applicable. Orchard ladders are not required to be weight rated nor carry that label. However, like many other types of equipment, all ladders need to be inspected before use. Please see our Safety Page for more details. Need to train employees on safe use of orchard ladders? There are many resources on the Safety page to help you create a training program.

The dimpled step tread on Tallman Ladders creates a slip resistant raised grip in all directions. It allows some dirt to fall through the holes while still offering traction for your feet, even in a wet environment. Grandpa Bob said he was inspired by a similar pattern on the floorboard of his Fordson Dexta tractor.

Orchard ladders were created to be used on turf or ground only, getting close to and inside trees and hedges. Without the spreader bars that other ladders have, the pole leg of the orchard ladder can be placed inside or through a tree or hedge. Tallman Ladders goes an extra step (pun intended) and are specially designed for use on hillsides and cross-sloping ground. The pole leg can also be placed farther uphill, with the body of the ladder downhill, to ensure the steps are level for greater stability. Watch Bob Tallman demonstrate how to properly set our ladder on hillsides and cross-slopping ground in a video on our Safety page.
